The Dressing Room: About Us

Launched in July 2007, The Dressing Room is the vision of East Village fashion designer and stylist Nikki Fontanella. Co-owned by Alexandra Adame and Paul Frazier, this hybrid boutique brings a little history back to the Lower East Side, which was the original garment district of Manhattan. The Dressing Room presents a place for emerging fashion and accessories designers to create and showcase their collections, providing an innovative shopping experience offering fresh, versatile styles that span the spectrum of fashion. In addition to retail space, they also have use of the work studio on the lower level.

The ground level is subdivided into the boutique area and a casual cocktail bar with free internet access, a movie projector, and a selection of magazines, as well as weekly events featuring live DJs, new movies, and shopping parties. The clothing exchange on the lower level features vintage and secondhand pieces.

About the Clothing Exchange
We selectively buy, sell, and trade clothing and accessories, from, to, and with the public on a walk-in basis. We buy contemporary as well as vintage items.

Clothing may be dropped off for the Exchange on Sunday & Tuesdays only . The Clothing Exchange policy is 50% of the item’s value in credit toward Exchange purchases, 60% in bar credit, or 30% in cash. Any items that we pass on can be left in the store and will be donated to charity.
